Sponsor: Hansi Ministries, Inc. a non-profit organization
Founder: Maria Anne Hirschmann (aka Hansi) in 1974
Purpose: To meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs by word and
deed, foremost to forgotten people around the world.

Background: Hansi grew up as an orphan in harsh poverty and rejection. When Hitler’s troops conquered her homeland Czechoslovakia, she was selected for a German Nazi-school to be trained as a youth leader. Idealistic but brain washed, she watched her world disappear at the end of WW II, when she was taken to a Communist labor camp in Bohemia. She escaped to West Germany joining thousands of starving refugees

who needed desperately food, shelter and a new meaning for life!

But the deepest, most urgent need which came to her attention, had developed in Belarus, after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, when 70% of the radioactive fallout cloud settled upon the land and the people of Belarus. At that time, it was all part of Communist Russia and news about the devastation was suppressed. By the time the Iron Curtain broke, the world had forgotten and the newly formed nation of Belarus was left alone to deal with their overwhelming difficulties. It did not help matters that Belarus still has a Communist government.

When Hansi visited Belarus in 1996 for the first time, she found orphans by the thousands. Most families live in deep poverty. 75% of the younger generation is affected daily by results of the radiation and there are no solutions in sight! Belarus needs help on every level but the people need most of all new hope, because the radioactive pollution is spreading. These precious people need to know that in spite of that devastating disaster God loves them and the world has not forgotten them completely. Other nations need to stand by and help the Belarusian Government find new solutions to a horrible disaster, which was not of their own making.

Hansi Ministries works with Belarusian Christians to spread hope and good will. Since 1991 Belarus has religious freedom. Believers, for the first time in 70 years, were allowed to meet and build churches and institutional buildings. A new law has put Belarus back into the Stalin era, but our work is still going forward, but under cover

“Grandma Hansi”, as the Belarusian Believers call her, works with various churches to provide basic foods and simple medications for the hungry children and the needy seniors, who only subsist!

However, Hansi Ministries also works with Belarusian organization agencies and their various orphanages and children’s hospitals. At the present time the Belarusian Committee “The Children of Chernobyl” is conducting medical tests among several groups of affected children who live in “red zone” areas. All of them are daily contaminated by the high radiation content of the soil and the food that is grown in the area. The children are given daily pills made from young barley grass. These “Green Supreme” food supplements are hand carried into Belarus by American volunteers. So far, the results are so encouraging, the Belarusian doctors want to enlarge the controlled study to 3000 children. And by God’s Grace, it shall happen! This could become a small window of light for the whole nation, since such Barley powder could be produced and handed out to the population by the government of Belarus!

Conclusion: It is an awesome project for a small ministry, led by an old Grandma. But with our great God, all things are possible! Grandma Hansi works with an enthusiastic committee of younger people who are eager to help her.

18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[1] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 - NIV
